WhatsApp%20Image%202024-11-20%20at%2013.47.46 All CASA-Chile students live with Chilean host families through the duration of the program. Living with a host family is not only a great way to gain insight into Chilean society, culture, and daily life, but will also help improve your Spanish-language skills.

To facilitate the homestay matching process, you will complete a homestay questionnaire, in Spanish, where you will be asked to include information regarding your hobbies and interests, experience traveling, your Spanish language proficiency, dietary restrictions, religion, relevant medical information, etc. You will also have the opportunity to include information about yourself, including preferences for a homestay and any other specific details you think are important for a family to know about you. Your host family will provide you with your own bedroom with bedding and other linens, and three meals a day (breakfast, lunch, and dinner, seven days/week). Any additional meals or snacks are a personal expense for which you are responsible for paying.

The homestay experience is often regarded as one of the best parts of students’ study abroad experiences, but if, for some reason your homestay doesn’t work out, the CASA Chile Resident Director and Homestay Coordinator will work closely to ensure that you are placed in another family.
